Charlie Puth, celebra o Verão com o seu primeiro lançamento a solo deste ano, intitulado “Girlfriend” – já disponível através Atlantic/Rumson Records. Com ritmos contagiantes e cheios de soul, a música complementa na perfeição o falsete de Puth, que é já a sua imagem de marca. À boa moda de Charlie Puth, “Girlfriend” foi produzida pelo próprio e co-escrita com o seu colaborador de longa data, J Kash (“Attention”, “How Long”, “The Way I Am”).
“I am very bad at communicating, so most of the time, I just express my feelings in my music and ‘Girlfriend’ is an example of that. The song is about being persistent and letting someone know that your feelings for them aren’t going to just go away. But rather, they’re always going to be there, and you can’t sleep another night until you have that person by your side every day,” refere Puth, ascrescentando ainda: “But it’s really intense to say all that out loud, so I just put it in a song to make it a little easier for myself.”
“Girlfriend” assinala um novo capítulo para Puth, que é um dos colaboradores mais procurados da música pop actualmente. A faixa sucede a sua aparição em “Summer Feelings” de Lennon Stella, da banda sonora SCOOB! The Album e no novo Remix da faixa “I Hope” de Gabby Barrett, juntamente com seu trio de músicas lançadas em 2019… “I Warned Myself”, “Mother” e “Cheating On You”.
