Strange Pilgrim é a banda de Joshua Barnhart. Joshua iniciou a sua aventura musical como baterista nos Port O’Brien, e com a edição do album “All We Could Do Was Sing”.
Joshua Barnhart passou ainda por bandas como os Release the Sunbird, Two Sheds, Kelly McFarling, Vetiver, Sparrows Gate e Zeb Zaitz, antes de iniciar o seu próprio projecto em 2016 com a edição do álbum “Turn Out The Light”.
Em Março de 2020 apresentaram o single “Salt and Seagulls” com a participação de Kelly McKarfing que deu voz ao tema.
O nome da banda, Strange Pilgrim, foi inspirado no livro de Gabriel Garcia Marquez, “Strange Pilgrims or Doce Cuentos Peregrinos”
O novo single agora apresentado na Glam Magazine em estreia, “Staring at the Sky” aborda a tematica sobre a amizade e como passer as noites quentes de verão partilhando experiências psicadélicas. “Staring at the Sky” é igualmente uma carta de amor numa época conturbada onde dizer adeus se tornou mais difícil.
“For a number of years, Hickey Fest in Mendocino, CA would mark the beginning of summer for a lot of our friends. That weekend was filled with music, river swimming, redwoods, and a bit of collective insanity. It’s in those special moments that I have felt most at peace with myself and with the world, and where even my own mortality seems a part of one big cosmic joke.
In the context of COVID, the resulting shelter-in-place, and the current uprising all over the country against police brutality and systemic racism, this song might seem a bit silly. But for me at least, silliness is partly what makes life worth living and gives me hope for a more just and joyful future.”
